Meet your coaches!

Chris Urbine, Head Coach:
Chris was a part of swimming for his whole life back in New Jersey. He was an age group swimmer for twelve years and a member and captain of his high school swim team. During the school year, he volunteered as assistant coach of a club team and for the past five summers, he was assistant coach of a summer swim team. He has worked at MIT as a swim instructor teaching private and group lessons to swimmers of all ability. He is currently pursuing a degree in Elementary and Special Education from Boston University.

Yoko Shibata, Assistant Coach
Yoko has had a very successful swimming career after being born in Japan. She grew up in Greenville, NC where she swam for USS and YMCA teams. Yoko coached a summer swim team and has worked at Cornell Swim Camp. This was her first fall at Cambridge YMCA. Right now, she is in her third year of medical school at Harvard aiming toward a PhD in Biochemistry/Cell Biology.

Reyes Sanchez III, Assistant Coach
Reyes grew up in New Hampshire and been living in Cambridge since his freshman year in high school. As a swim teacher, Reyes has been at Cambridge YMCA for the past six years. Last fall was Reyes's second season coaching the swim team. He has done triathlons for the past seven years, competing in various events. Currently, he is teaching classes and private lessons for everyone; amongst these are parent-infant classes and adults.
 
Jeff Gilbert, Assistant Coach
Jeff grew up in Maryland and started swimming when he was 7 years old. He swam for his high school team, and eventually became Captain. He came to Boston in order to attend MIT where he was on the swim team his junior and senior years. He also brings a lot of experience from MIT's Aquatics Department where he was swim instructor for the past two years. In addition to teaching and coaching, Jeff is currently working at an engineering company in Lexington, MA.
